- “Ahoy” – Hello
- Avast – “Avast Ye” – meaning, “Stop and pay attention”, “Get a load of this”.
- The Black Spot – a black spot or mark on a scrap paper with details, known as a death threat among pirates.
- Hempen Halter – is the Hangman’s noose.
- Hornswaggle – to cheat one of their money or belonging’s
- “Shiver me Timbers”, also “Blow me Down” – an expression of shock or disbelief. This term was believed to come from ‘shock’ when hit by a cannon blast or when the ship running aground.
